Wahl Magic Clip and Senior Blades: Corded vs Cordless

The Magic Clip and the Senior are sold as corded and cord/cordless clippers, and the names are close enough that buyers often assume they share parts. Wahl’s own documentation shows that the blade depends on the exact model. Everything below comes from Wahl’s official websites in the US, UK and Australia (checked October 24, 2026). Each model page on this site links to the exact source.

Magic Clip: corded and cordless use different blades

Model Market Blade What Wahl says Our status
Cord/Cordless Magic Clip (08148) US 02161 Product page: “Blade Type: Stagger-Tooth (02161)” Confirmed
5 Star Magic Clip (8451-830), corded UK 2191 Blade page: “5 Star Magic Clip (8451)” Confirmed
Magic Clip (08451), corded US 02191 Blade page names “Magic Clip” without a model number Not confirmed
5 Star Cordless Magic Clip (3027252) UK 2161-400 Blade page names model “8148”; this listing shows Part No. 3027252 Not confirmed

Wahl USA’s own name for the 02161 blade is “Stagger Tooth Blade Set C/C Magic Clip Only”, so we record it as not compatible with the corded Magic Clip (08451).

Two rows are not confirmed even though the blade pages look relevant. Wahl’s wording does not identify the exact model or listing, and Wahl sells several Magic Clip variants (corded, cord/cordless, gold, black, 5V versions). We only confirm a part when the source pins down the exact model.

The gold versions add another blade. Wahl USA lists the gold Stagger-Tooth blade 02161-700 for the “5-Star Gold Cordless Magic Clip”. The 5-Star Black Cord/Cordless Magic Clip’s product page also names blade 2161-700.

Stagger-tooth vs fade blade: what is the difference?

Wahl Australia describes the two blade styles this way:

  • Stagger-tooth (Magic Clip cordless): “Standard blades cut at a single length, but the Stagger-Tooth cuts at two simultaneously”, which helps soften lines when blending.
  • Fade blade (2191 style): “This precision Fade Blade has one cutting path, resulting in a very blunt, straight, clean cut. It has zero-overlap capabilities for on scalp fading.”

Senior: one blade family, except the Senior 2.0

For two Senior listings, Wahl ties the 2191-style blade to the exact model:

The US 02191 blade page also names the “5 Star Senior” and “Sterling Reflections Senior”, but without model numbers. Wahl USA sells several Senior variants, and its Senior (08500) page also describes itself as a “Reflections Senior Clipper”. For that reason the 5-Star Senior (08545) and Reflections Senior (08501) are not shown with confirmed parts.

The Senior 2.0 is different. Wahl sells a dedicated blade “designed specifically for the Wahl Professional Senior 2.0 Cord/Cordless Clipper”:

We have not found any Wahl source listing the 02191 blade for the Senior 2.0, so we do not list it.

Cordless power parts: check 4V vs 5V

Wahl UK lists a tension spring (96833-300) for the “Cordless Super Taper, Cordless Senior and Cordless Magic Clip”, and a 5V charger (97624-800) for several cordless models. Wahl Australia sells a replacement battery (93837-200) for the cordless Magic Clip, Senior, Super Taper and Legend.

These pages name model families, not model numbers. The Wahl Australia battery page warns that 4V and 5V components “must not be used together”, and that owners of a 4V 8591L or 8504L model must replace both the battery and the power supply. Because the voltage of each listing is not stated, we do not mark these parts as confirmed for the Magic Clip, Senior or Super Taper listings. The charger is confirmed only for the Cordless Detailer Li (8171).

Before ordering a battery or charger, check your clipper’s rating label and manual. If you are unsure, contact Wahl.

Quick checklist

  1. Check whether your Magic Clip or Senior is corded or cord/cordless.
  2. Find the model number on the clipper or packaging. See how to find your model number.
  3. Use the part number Wahl lists for your market. US, UK and Australian numbers often differ (see regional Wahl part numbers).
